Mersin is standing up to fascism

“They arrived. At 1.45am, with 4 riot control vehicles, 2 scorpion vehicles, 7 buses and 500 policemen in total… First we started laughing because we were 37 people at that point in the tents. (Actually we are originally hundreds but the police apparently looked for a moment that we were the least crowded.) While we were discussing whether all these armored vehicles and all these police came for just us, we figured that their aim was to capture the PEACE SQUARE. First they encircled us. We started a sit-in and we said we will not remove our tents. They removed our tents, they plundered our communal kitchen, they seized all the food and drinks in the fridges that people had brought for the protesters. Our personal belongings were taken together with the tents, we could not get anything. By the morning we realized why so many of them came in. The PEACE SQUARE is under police siege right now, they don’t take anybody in. Apart from the square, whole Pozcu, Mezitli is under siege. The Prime Minister is coming to Mersin and his mercenaries are surrounding our squares, streets, boulevards and houses.

Being from Mersin, I have to resist today. EVERYBODY IN MERSIN HAS TO RESIST TODAY, JUST BECAUSE THEY ARE HUMAN. STANDING UP TO FASCISM TODAY IS INDISPENSABLE FOR A HUMAN BEING NOW…”
