Taksim Solidarity: Enough is enough!

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

As we know how to laugh

We know how to live and die

One for all

All for one

Today, we received another dark news. We lost another soul; we are deeply hurt. Ahmet Atakan, supporting a struggle for a noble and beautiful world, was killed by a tear gas shell shot by the police. Ahmet was only 22 years old.

In the aftermath of the Gezi Resistance, one of the most important struggles in Turkish history for a better life and democracy, we continue to fight against the tyranny over public space, and over our lives in every city of Turkey. Today we lost the seventh comrade. We have profound pain and rage.

Our loses resulted from the preposterous and unconscionable violence of the police forces.  No one responsible for the violence, till today, is brought to the justice.  On the contrary, authorities constantly attempt to acquit the ones responsible for the killings. We demand the ones liable for the atrocity of killing these young people to be brought to justice immediately.

The constituents of Taksim Solidarity and citizens supported Taksim Solidarity during the Gezi Resistance, which took place all over the Turkey, are proven themselves and their struggle to be righteous at the court, in the public opinion and all the other spheres for countless times.  Nothing, be it suppression, any kind of censorship, witch-hunt or violence can make us stop or intimidate our solidarity.

We will insist on our constitutional rights and our demands that we have been repeating ever since the beginning of the Taksim Solidarity process and that the police and the authorities constantly violate. We won’t give up on our acquisitions that we achieved with labor, with sweat blood and pain.  Today and ever after, we will continue to be here and everywhere, together and stronger, for our righteous demands for freedom of expression and for freedom of assembly.

We will never forget the lives lost to illegal and inhumane attacks to our struggle for the most basic democratic right of freedom of assembly and we will also continue our peaceful and nonviolent struggle for our comrades Ali İsmail Korkmaz, Ethem Sarısülük, Mustafa Sarı, Abdullah Cömert, Medeni Yıldırım, Mehmet Ayvalıtaş and Ahmet Atakan with great determination.

Everywhere Taksim, Everywhere Resistance!

TAKSIM SOLIDARITY
