After PM Tayyip Erdoğan’s meeting with the Wisdom Council in his office at Dolmabahçe Palace, journalist Musa Ağacık, who asked some questions to the members of the Wisdom Council, got attacked by Erdoğan’s body guards.
He asked a question, got beaten up:
After PM Tayyip Erdoğan’s meeting with the Wisdom Council in his office at Dolmabahçe Palace, journalist Musa Ağacık asked some questions to the members of the Wisdom Council and got beaten up by Erdoğan’s body guards. The question was: “Do you believe that a Prime Minister who says, “my police” has written an epic to the same police who brutally attacked the people resisting at Gezi Park, can bring social peace to his country? Following this question, PM’s bodyguards took Ağacık away from the conference hall by force and hit him, despite knowing that he was a journalist.
One Question was enough:
SOCIAL PEACE CAN ONLY BE POSSIBLE THROUGH THE SPIRIT OF GEZI RESISTANCE…
On the 26th of June, 2013, Prime Minister Tayyip Erdoğan held a meeting with the members of the Wisdom Council in his office at Dolmabahçe Palace in Istanbul. At the end of the meeting, in front of the Beşiktaş exit of the office, journalists asked some questions to “wise persons” about the meeting. And on behalf of the Vagus Web TV, I asked the following question to Prof. Dr. İzzettin Doğan and Hülya Koçyiğit:
-DO YOU BELIEVE THAT THE PRIME MINISTER CAN REALLY BUILD TRUE SOCIAL PEACE after his declarations about POLICE’S FASCISTIC ATTITUDE saying, “my police have written an epic”?
İzzettin Doğan pretended that he didn’t hear my question, whereas Hülya Koçyiğit said that she did. I repeated my question:
- MS. KOCYIGIT, DO YOU REALLY BELIEVE THAT A PRIME MINISTER WHO GLORIFIES THE POLICE’S FASCISTIC ACTIONS AGAINST THE PEOPLE CAN DEFEND DEMOCRACY AND HUMAN RIGHTS?
Hülya Koçyiğit hesitated. At that moment, the bodyguards came from behind and started kicking my legs and twisting my wrists. Hülya Koçyiğit turned a blind eye to the police’s intervention and left running. At that point, one of the “wise men”, Prof. Dr. Fuat Keyman, an academic at Bilgi University and an ex-Marxist, came to the place where the press release was being held. Although he clearly saw that the police were beating me, he just turned away and left! This proves that PRIME MINISTER ERDOĞAN and his WISDOM COUNCIL’s real objectives are not building real PEACE, but on the contrary, paving the way to the process for TAYYİB’s ONE MAN regime. As a matter of fact, one of the “Wise Man’, CELALETTİN CAN, who is the spokesperson of the 78s Foundation, already confessed that during the PEACE PROCESS they consulted mostly the AKP SUPPORTERS.
The police continued to beat and insult me:
- WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE, ASSHOLE? WHAT KIND OF QUESTIONS DO YOU ASK? COME HERE AND WE CHAT WITH YOU!
- ASK YOUR COMMANDANT; HE KNOWS WHO I AM!
- OUR COMMANDANT SENT US TO BEAT YOU!
- YOUR COMMANDANT KNOWS THAT I AM A JOURNALIST!…
- GIVE US YOUR PRESS CARD!
- I DIDN’T GET THAT CARD FROM YOU; WHY SHOULD I GIVE IT TO YOU? AS A JOURNALIST, I ASK QUESTIONS ABOUT THE SOCIAL AGENDA. WHY ARE YOU SO AFRAID THAT I CAN ASK QUESTIONS FREELY? WHY ARE YOU SO SCARED OF FREEDOM OF THE PRESS?
Then the police tried to drag me away from the group of journalists. I could manage to get free of them for a minute and took out my press card from my pocket. Holding my press card in my hand, I made a declaration to condemn the fascistic attitude of the police. The police’s fascistic attempts at silencing me lasted for 15-20 minutes right in front of the eyes of over 100 journalists. Including “Wise Men”, nobody reacted against police brutality! Only a young colleague from Yeni Akit tried to stand in the way and help me…
