Berkin Elvan, 14 years of age.

Berkin Elvan, 14, was shot in the head by a tear gas canister during a police attack at Okmeydanı. The attack was directed towards demonstrators supporting the Gezi Park resistance.
Berkin was transferred to Okmeydanı Hospital, and is reported to be in coma, since the gas cartridge happened to be stuck into his brain. He also suffered a heart failure for a while.
It is also stated that he has cerebral hemorrhage, which seriously risks his survival.
Upon news about his status, the police arrived at Okmeydanı Hospital and tried to seize Berkin’s bloodstained shirt. They are trying to destroy the evidence. Berkin’s relatives are resisting and trying to prevent this from happening, resulting in ongoing tensions at the hospital.
